A diagnosis of CKD means your kidneys are not working as well as they should be. The word ‘chronic’ means that it is a long-term condition. The information on this page is used during our annual CKD reviews.

Diabetes and CKD

Diabetes is the leading cause of CKD, although having diabetes doesn’t always lead to CKD. Treatment and good control of your diabetes can prevent CKD from getting worse. More information can be found here: Diabetes and kidney disease from Kidney Care UK

High blood pressure and CKD
