Private Medical Referrals

We understand that some of our patients may wish, or need, to use private medical services.  We are able to provide referral letters to private services and in the majority of cases we can send these electronically directly to your chosen hospital clinic.  Please do give us as much notice as possible to ensure we can have the referral prepared well in advance of your appointment.

Should you require a prescription medication or follow-up testing/monitoring after a private sector appointment we will offer the same GP support to you that we would for a similar clinic in the NHS.  This can at times mean that we will need to direct you back to your private provider for medications that are not on the Health Board NHS Formulary or for any tests that would usually be undertaken by the equivalent NHS clinic.

We do not routinely provide follow-up or prescriptions recommended by a private GP provider.  We would ask you to make a review appointment with one of our doctors to take things forward.

Private health screening is increasingly popular and we welcome patients making an appointment to discuss any significant abnormalities found during this process.  We cannot however offer a general opinion on these health screening results so please do not submit full results to us for opinion or for your records.
